General overview
We are an award winning programme sponsored by Kodak, Arri GB, Cineworld and broadcast partner propeller TV . The FdA TV & Film Production provides an exciting learning experience in a professional environment making films. It is delivered by a team of specialists and industry contributors, designed and written to reflect the Skillset Occupational Standards for the Media Industry. Our reputation for professionalism and high standards means our graduates can be assured that their experiences will be recognised by employers. Working on both 16mm film and digital video, including HD, the output of the course is varied, highly creative and to broadcast standards.

First year production work, which includes Drama, Factual and Live Projects, is supported and informed by critical analysis, scriptwriting and professional studies.

An overview and experience of all processes and equipment will provide the basis for more specialist study in year 2. Appealing to creative, technical and experimental lens and time based media makers, the progression and professional routes for graduates are equally varied and exciting.

Why study this subject at CCAD?
You will be part of a selected cohort with plenty of access to equipment and your own specialist areas of study to work in. Technical support is provided enabling you to work independently outside of taught hours. CCAD is perfectly situated to enable access to a range of locations which are ideal for filming, from coastal areas to moorlands and industrial landscapes, providing incredible variety in terms of backdrops for production.
Pro-active Industrial Links, live briefs, work experience, competitions and visiting professionals are an essential feature of this degree and will help you to understand and compete within the TV and Film Industries. Your work may be shown on TV, appear at festivals and be entered into national and international awards and competitions. Choosing a Foundation Degree pathway with Honours top up is the most effective route you can take to maximise learning, contact with industry and employability and may be studied full or part time.

What new skills will I aquire?
TV & Film production begins with a creative concept which needs to be researched and developed and scripted. Working in groups or individually you will learn to use a range of equipment with confidence, from 16mm film cameras and Steenbeck editing, to HD video and post production to bring your ideas to life. Communication, organisation, commitment and energy, will drive your projects forward, enabling you to work to the best of your ability in a supportive and professional environment. You will find and develop your own unique ways of working and be supported in the production of individual and group productions.

Success stories
Award winning work has been shown on BBC (Best British Short Film) and ITV (Cobra Vision Winners) as well as on our sponsors channel Sky 195 propeller (UK & Europe) including work commissioned for Turkish TV! , FdA TV & Film Production students are regular winners of the Royal Television Society Awards, in both northern and Yorkshire regions, as well as USA Film Festivals.
