About this course

You will need 3 GCSEs at grade D or above including Maths and English, or have successfully completed a Level 1 course in a related subject graded at merit or above with key skills to Level 1. Appropriate knowledge or experience gained in employment will also be taken into account.

Is the course for me?
This course will help you develop the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in the floristry sector or go onto Further Education. This course is ideal for candidates who may wish to consider running their own floristry business.

What will I learn?
This is a practical work related course. You will learn by completeing practical tasks and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course covers the knowledge and advanced technical practical skills needed to provide a good foundation for excellent career opportunities or progression to more advanced work related qualification. You will learn about the employment area within the floristry sector and cover different aspects of business management. The course is made up of 8 units - 4 core units that everyone must take and 4 specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study a particular area in more depth.

How will I be assessed?
All practical and theory work is assessed and graded throughout the duration of the course. You will build a portfolio of evidence and assessments and then an overall grade for the qualification will be awarded on completion of the course. There is no formal examination.

What can I do after the course?
You can study a BTEC National Diploma in Floristry as this course is valued by employees and higher education. A level 3 qualification is available for dedicated and enthusiastic candidates who may wish to go into a career in teaching. Students can go into a career in Floristry, contractual work, specialist work like weddings, funerals or run their own business.
