Content There are two separate Foundation Degrees which are offered jointly over 2 years full time and 3 years part time. They are targeted at people already working in the health or social care field who require a higher qualification, as well as those who wish to pursue a career in these areas. Each course offers joint core and separate specialist modules, which involve Study Skills, Care Values, Social Policy, Counselling, Public Health and The Environment, Mental Health, Community Health, Health Promotion, Management, Development of Public Health and Worked-based Project. The course takes a practice-based and academic approach and students who are not working in the field will be expected to spend up to 6 hours a week in paid or voluntary work experience. On completion students will be awarded either a FdA in Community, Health and Social Care or a FdSc in Public Health.
