What will I study?
The Foundation Degree addresses the latest innovations in Multimedia and Graphic Technology and IT information systems management. It offers a balance between program development, multimedia theory and the use of web applications to satisfy business needs. Teaching and learning will involve a number of different methods, a blend of lectures, group work, workshop activities, work-based learning and experience.

How can I progress?
On successful completion of the Foundation Degree course students can progress onto the third year of the current BSc Web Systems Design course at Edge Hill University. This programme is intended to provide an educational foundation for a wide range of careers within the multimedia and information technology industries.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
All applicants are subject to interview. An appropriate level 3 qualification is required as well as Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C or above. Applicants must provide evidence of sound attendance and good Records of Achievement and a keen interest in IT. Mature candidates with relevant work experience will be invited for an informal interview and will be asked to sit a College aptitude test.

Course Structure
The programme is devided into two parts which each take a year to complete for full-time students. For students studying part-time they can be extended over longer periods. Modules in year one introduce students to the systems analysis, computer systems, programming, GUI applications, and Software.Students will also have the opportunity to study Graphics technology and Graphics hardware & software and professional practice. Year two of the programme covers topics such as databases, project management, Flash development and Desktop audio production. Students can also develop a deeper understanding of a particular area by studying Computerised animated graphics and final Group Project. The second year also involves an industry placement to allow students to put their learning into practice and gain some valuable experience

The programme offers structured and relevant work experience and a route for progression to further study at honours degree level.
