About this course
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths at grade B, English and an Art related subject, or successful completion of a Level 2 course in a related subject graded at merit or above with key skills to Level 2.

Is the course for me?
This course is suitable for you if you would like to gain a broad understanding of how computers can be used in the Games Industry. You will learn the skills required to produce a game from pre production through to production.
What will I learn?
Each unit covers a seperate topic of games. Each topic is taught by a combination of theory and practicals. 4 Core Units: Understanding the media, Research techniques, Media Skills workshop, Professional Practice in the Media Industry. The units are a balance between the more techinical aspects of game creation such as programming/scripting and and the creative side of concept design/visualisation and all aspects of planning and production.
How will I be assessed?
The majority of units are assessed by one or more practical assessments such as written reports, practical tasks, case studies or projects. All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto a Degree or a BTEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Media. There are also job opportunities in Games Design, Games Development, Animation, 3D Design.
