On the Countryside and Gardening Skills Course you will attend College once a week for a year. This course is suitable for those over 16 years of age who enjoy working in the countryside and who want to develop relevant skills with a little extra support. You will work in the old walled garden, in the woods and in the forestry buildings. You will learn how to plant young trees, identify bushes and trees, use gardening tools safely, construct fences, use and maintain gardening machinery, build dry stone walls, and maintain paths.

What will I study?
Glynllifon is an excellent location for this course. You will receive your training at various sites on the estate. The gardening lessons will be conducted in the Colleges old walled garden, and you will learn countryside skills in the fields and woodlands. You can choose to study: Planting saplings. Identifying shrubs and trees. Learning about gardening tools and using them safely. Fencing. Use and care of gardening machinery. Dry stone walling. Maintenance of footpaths.
Will I have to sit any examinations?
Students will be able to choose modules that lead to qualifications.

The course staff collaborates with the Care Management Team, Agoriad and the Careers Service. The aim of the course is to help you realise your personal ambitions and to equip you with skills that you can use locally.
