Course content
This course is designed for students with an interest in a career in the health service or social services. It will focus on different client groups. Students will be encouraged to have a work placement during the course in a health and social care setting. The qualification will be the equivalent of 1 A level and is a two year course.
Students will cover the following compulsory units:
Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care
Three further units are covered which may include:
Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
Physiological Disorders
Complementary Therapies for Health and Social Care

How Will I Be Assessed?
Assessment is through assignments/projects, case studies and practical work. There are no exams.

What Could I Do Next?
This course could lead on to any Health or Social Care degree course, such as nursing, midwifery, social work, or allied health professions such as physiotherapy, radiography or occupational therapy.

Are There Any Special Expenses?
Students will be expected to pay for their own transport to and from placement. There will be some visits which would incur travelling costs.
