Introduction
This National certificate is equivalent to two A Levels and provides you with a good understanding of health studies and social care, combining practical work-related study with theory.

Description
There are seven compulsory units including vocational practice, communication & supportive skills and human anatomy & physiology. In addition, there are four specialist units including complementary therapies and diet & nutrition. You will also spend two days a week in a community care setting, e.g. with children, people with special needs or the elderly.

Duration
Two years

Method of Study
You will study through a series of lectures and seminars, as well as work experience. All placements will be organised by the College. You are assessed through coursework, assignments and exams. If you achieve high grades at the end of your first year, you have the option to move on to the National Diploma which is equivalent to three A Levels.

Progression
You can progress to employment in health & social care, further training, or on to higher education courses such as nursing, social work, physiotherapy, speech & language therapy, radiography or teaching.
