Qualification gained: BTEC National Diploma in Health Studies, equivalent to 3 A levels
Course Content: The core units are: Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health Care. Communication and supportive Skills in Health care. Health Care Research. Human Anatomy and Physiology. Applied Science. Vocational Practice. Lifespan Development. Health Promotion. Specialised Units: Environmental Health. Microbiology. Diet and Nutrition. Advanced Physiology. Complementary Therapies. Health Psychology. Health Issues for Specific Groups. Multidisciplinary Approach to Health Care. Current Issues in Health
Work Experience: Work experience is part of the course and you will have the opportunity to sample working in a variety of organizations with a range of client groups from the young to elderly.
Course Assessment: Continual assessment over two year period, via a series of 18 assignments of 2,000 words. Two units are assessed externally. One integrated Vocational Assignment (IVA) will cover two units. This will be internally marked and the re-marked externally by EDEXCEL
Progression: Progression to higher education into such courses as Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing Degrees and Diploma in Nurse Training and Midwifery, Social Care
Homework: 2 hours a day outside class time
Additional Costs: The cost of text books for the course will be approx 50. Students will have to pay travel expenses for work experience.Students will need to buy a 12 College polo shirt for work placements, and an optional 13 sweatshirt is also recommended. Applicants will have to pay for their CRB check which is approximately 40.

- Part Time Course Fee Relate to Year 1 course fees only. Two year course fees will have an additional course fee for the second year; these fees are subject to confirmation annually.
