Additionally, the course caters for those wishing to progress to a Higher Education programme at university. For certain candidates, depending on their circumstances, the programme can also be a unique opportunity for sessional employment two days per week through the local Community Health and Social.

About this course
Candidates will be invited to submit a piece of written work (200 words approx.) to assist in identifying communication skills. Successful candidates will be subject to a Disclosure Scotland report as the programme includes a practical work placement element. To join this course it would be useful for candidates to have achieved the Int 2 or NC in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) and/or English Higher/Communication 4 and Numeracy Int 2 (especially for those planning to progress to nursing or other University programme). It would also be advantageous for candidates to have undertaken a science unit but this is not essential.
