Aims of the Course
Complementary Therapies is a growing industry both nationally and internationally.

The aim of this course is
to provide a programme of learning which will combine the knowledge and skills required to produce a skilled and qualified diverse therapist for the Health Sector, Health, Fitness and Leisure Industries.

The second year of the course will allow students to further develop the knowledge, 'hands-on' abilities and managerial skills acquired on the HNC Complementary Therapies.

Course Contents
Study on this course will comprise both theory and practical experience.

Year 1
Same as HNC Complementary Therapies

Year 2 - Choice of Pathways:
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy - Advanced
Botanical Science for Aromatherapy
Reflexology
Reflexology - Advanced
Chinese Elements
Massage
Remedial Massage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Mandatory Units (all pathways):
Preparing and Presenting a Business Plan
Clinical Practice
Graded Unit 2
Integration in Healthcare Service
Human Pathological Process
Lifestyle Advice for Clients
Stress Management
Stress Management for Clients

Optional Units:
Seated Massage
Indian Head Massage
Stone Therapy

Duration of the Course
Full time - 2 years.
Part time attendance over a longer period.

Individual units can also be studied on a part time basis (by negotiation).

Progression
Further study may include BSc Complementary Therapies.
Employment opportunities exist for Complementary Therapists in the Health Sector, Clinics, the Health and Leisure Industry and self employment.
