Aim of course
Students will receive an excellent grounding in a range of horticultural practices and principles. You will have a thorough understanding of both practical and theoretical aspects of horticulture.
What does the course involve? Students will cover a range of subjects including: Hort skills and plant knowledge, principles of plant and soil science, design principles, machinery operations, decorative horticulture, hard landscaping, rock and water. Three days per week for two years.
What qualifications do I need? 4 GCSEs grade C or above including English, maths or science or a BTEC first diploma. What equipment do I need?
Steel toe-capped boots and overalls.
What can I do after the course? Students can progress onto a Higher Education course, or perform various roles within the industry. You will be able to work as a gardener, for a local authority or gain access to consultancy.
