This course supports related NVQs in Motor vehicles and is an ideal starting point for anyone seeking employment in the motor industry. Students learn basic motor vehicle repair operations. Units include:Engines, Transmission,Chassis,Electrics How to Service and Maintain Motorcycles How to Work Safely How to Work as Part of a Team Maintenance and Repair of Braking and Transmission Systems. Course Content includes: Engine Systems Gearboxes and Clutches Braking and Steering Systems Electrical and Electronic Systems Inspection Techniques Health and Safety

Qualifications required:
Applicants are assessed on an individual basis, taking into account existing academic or vocational qualifications and experience. An interest in the motor industry is required.

Details of such requirements will be given at interview. Also available on a College day release basis (seven hours).

Progression:
The natural progression route is to the IMI Level 2 Technical Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship schemes are available on a college day release basis for those who find employment.
