Independent Living Skills (Vocational Access) Entry Level for Students with Learning Disabilities
What will I be studying? You may study modules in the following areas:
Communication; Numeracy; Health Education; Work Skills; Independent Living Skills; General Studies; Creative Studies. In addition you may choose to follow some parts of mainstream courses.
You will receive an individually negotiated programme which will be a mixture of the modules detailed above. Support will be available as necessary. The area(s) chosen will depend on your individual interests and abilities. Many of you may progress wholly onto a mainstream programme.
Work experience forms a vital part of the course and we aim to place you for half a day to two days a week in a work placement environment, with support as necessary. Some of you may choose to go on to supported employment.
What can I do when I have successfully completed the programme?
We aim to fit you into open or supported employment whenever possible. You may choose to progress to full-time mainstream courses.
