About this course

Students will require 4 GCSEs at Grades C or equivalent IT qualification. Good literacy and numeracy skills together with an aptitude to working with computers is expected.

All students must attend an interview with the IT staff.

Course Content
This two-year course is practical and work-related. Students learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
The course covers 18 units, giving a broad coverage of the varied computing career paths. Typical units include:

This course is equivalent to 120-360 UCAS points.
Teaching/Assessment
Students complete projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
There are no exams. All work is assessed by submission of a portfolio of evidence at the end of each unit. Students are given the opportunity to improve upon any unit's individual grade. Two units are externally assessed by the examination board.

Progression
Successful completion of this course enables students to gain sufficient UCAS points to progress to further degree level studies within a university or HE college.
Students completing this course could enter the workplace in any sector where office IT skills are required, or obtain an apprenticeship as an IT technician or Application Developer.
