Course Content
ALL STUDENTS STUDYING COURSES WITHIN TRAVEL AND TOURISM AT SWANSEA COLLEGE WILL FOLLOW THE LEISURE MANAGEMENT ACADEMY PROGRAMME.
The course consists of eight units which are assessed through course work. It is structured to develop the students†knowledge of the hospitality, travel and tourism industries. Units include:
Starting Work in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism;
Working in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism;
Introducing Customer Service;
Personal Effectiveness;
Financial Management;
Planning Trips;
Work Experience;
Using Displays in Travel and Tourism.
Teaching/Assessment
The Tourism Academy aims to bring together strands of study to meet the needs of business, education and students.
The strands of study include:
A mix of academic and vocational qualifications;
Help with job skills leading to a skills passport;
Extra support including visits and conferences to increase your industy knowledge;
5-8 weeks of related full time work experience.
Progression
Students will have the opportunity to undertake six months' work placement within the industry. This will then facilitate students†progress on to the next level of course either First Diploma in Travel and Tourism or First Diploma in Hospitality or into the world of work.
Additional Information
Course costs include educational visits and uniform for the Vanilla Pod training restaurant [approx. £130.] Low income families can apply for a grant through student services.
