Course description
This one year full time Level 1 course combines practical experience on the Common Leys Farm and local nature reserves, along with theory to cover the key areas of the course. You will be working with a range of tools and equipment. You will also develop your skills in literacy, numeracy and IT within the course.
Topics include:
• Safe and effective working practices in land based industries
• Maintenance of tools and equipment
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of structures in the countryside
• Introduction to Wildlife and Conservation
• Assist with the establishment of plants in the countryside
• Assist with the maintenance of plants and sites in the countryside
• Develop personal, social and study skills
• Tractor driving
We will be based at the Common Leys Farm. This is our land-based practical site in the West Oxfordshire countryside with purpose-built practical teaching areas. There is regular public bus transport to and from the site.
There are no exams. You are assessed during practical activities and by the production of a portfolio.

*Students aged 16-18 will not be required to pay the full course fee, in most cases your fee will not exceed £150. Please contact us if you need more information regarding fees for full-time courses.
