Course Description
The Introductory Diploma is an excellent first step into studying Art & Design at College if you do not have formal qualifications from school. The course covers 4 core units, plus 2 specialised units in Photography and 3D. You will complete a range of projects each term in different subjects, such as Drawing, Painting, Design, Printmaking, Graphics and Art & Design History. You will also gain qualifications in Key Skills.

Entry Requirements
Portfolio interview and contextualised text in literacy and numeracy, plus an Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life/Life Skills/or other entry level qualification, and an appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy.

Assessment Methods
All units are graded P (Pass), M (Merit) or D (Distinction). Learners are required to achieve a minimum of a pass grade in each unit to qualify for qualification grade.

Progression
If you want to continue with your studies you could take a qualification at Level 2, such as the BTEC First Diploma in Art & Design. This qualification can also help prepare you for employment in the creative industries.
