This course gives you the opportunity to learn more about using Information Technology (IT).

Course Content:
Subjects studied will include:

* Assessed by an 'Integrated Vocational Assignment'. You may also study an AS Level alongside this course. Additionally you may have the opportunity to retake GCSE English and/or Mathematics.

Attendance Requirements:
Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants should hold one of the following:

  • At least five GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which should be English or Maths
  • BTEC First Diploma in a relevant subject at Merit or Distinction



Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

Assessment:
Internal assessments are set and marked by College staff but are subject to external moderation by a BTEC appointed verifier. The mandatory units are also externally assessed and marked by BTEC.

Progression Routes:
Many students continue their studies at a higher level following an HND or degree course in, for example, computing, computer studies, computer science, business information technology, business studies or business administration.

Career Options:
Employment in a variety of occupations is possible, such as a junior programmer, an IT technician or a web developer.
