The Course
This course provides a good foundation for starting many Computing and IT careers covering web development, software applications, hardware and networking. It is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and requirements.

Course Content
The course is split into 18 units examples include:

• Computer systems
• Information systems
• Networking
• IT technical support
• Digital graphics
• Principles of software development
• Developing computer games

Key Skills, which are essential for a computing and IT career, include Number, Communications and Information Technology

Assessment/Exams
This course is assessed via ongoing observations and assignments. Each unit has a number of assignments which you are expected to complete within a given timescale. Presentations may occasionally be used for assessing your learning. This qualification has no formal examinations.

Progression/Career Path
This qualification is equivalent to three A Levels and is recognised by universities as a pathway for good students to continue on to HNDs, Foundation or Honours Degrees.
Career options include: web designers and developers, IT technicians, help desk support analysts, database developers, web design or support systems testers.
