Learners will normally require one of the following:
· 4 GCSEs at grade D.
· Foundation GNVQ at Merit and 2 Foundation Skills at level 1.
· Equivalent qualifications.
Learners over 20 years old without formal qualifications will be given every consideration.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
On this course you will obtain hands-on experience in the fundamentals of computer operation, software, hardware, basic faultfinding and systems set up. The course is aimed at students wishing to start a career in PC maintenance, repair or systems support.
WHAT DO I NEED?
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need to attend classes for approximately 16 hours per week and have a high level of motivation and commitment. In addition you will need to spend 10 - 15 hours per week on coursework at home or in college.
ASSESSMENT
You will generally be assessed on your assignments, but two units have on-line examinations. There is also the option to study for A+ certification

Health & Safety Requirements
Troubleshooting Hardware & Software Problems
Computing Fundamentals
IT Helpdesk Support Functions
Maintaining Computer Systems
Providing Customer Support
Systems Audit
Systems Testing
Installing Hardware Equipment
Health and Safety
You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
As part of your timetable you will have a tutorial period, which is designed to support your learning and assist your progress. In addition there are activities to enrich your experience.

2i111-09 Course fees 0 16-18 year olds, 96(19) 19 years and over

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
On successful completion you will achieve a City and Guilds 7262 Diploma for IT Practitioners. At the same time you have the opportunity to gain a full European Computer Driving License (ECDL) qualification
The College is committed to you studying for national qualifications in Maths, English and ICT within your vocational course. This will help you get the most out of your work, education and everyday life.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
