Full Time Beauty Therapy Level 1

Course Description:
This programme provides an introduction into the Beauty Therapy industry and opportunities for candidates to gain knowledge and practical skills in basic beauty treatments. Successful completion of a level 1 certificate may allow progression onto Level 2 Beauty Therapy.

The course will focus on the following units:

• Ensure your own actions to reduce risks to health and safety
• Assist with salon reception duties
• Prepare and maintain the beauty therapy work area
• Assist with facial treatments
• Assist with nail treatments on the hands

Optional Units - students can access other units during their programme of study.

All students aged 16-19 will follow a
Key Skills programme of Application of Number, Communication and IT.

Entry Requirements:
It is advisable for students to possess a keen interest in beauty therapy and have a good educational background.

Selection is subject to a satisfactory interview and school report.

Salon Regulations: all sessions are taught within college salons, which are equipped to professional standard that provide services to the public. You will be continuously assessed through a series of assignments and practical activities. There will be an element of external testing. On successful achievement you will receive a pass certificate.

All students must comply with Lincoln College salon regulations regarding the wearing of appropriate dress in the Hair & Beauty salons. The dress code for beauty students is a grey tunic and trousers and black shoes.

Supplier details and order forms for the uniform will be sent to students as part of the enrolment process.

Assessment and Progression:
Assessment will be via a portfolio of evidence and external tests.

You may be able to progress onto the Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2.

Students may be eligible for the new Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) which supports the student financially whilst studying.
