Entry Requirements
Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs at Grade D G, or above, or other relevant qualifications.

Course Content
This course is specifically aimed at students with a keen interest in all aspects of Performing Arts or Media. They will be required to take classes in Music, Drama and Media with a high percentage of the assessment being practically based. All students are required to take the core unit: Performing Arts Production As well as four specialist units, such as: The Performing Arts Business Performing Scripted Plays Interactive Media Production Produce a Musical Recording Devising Plays

Special Features
Students will have the opportunity of working with external theatre companies, and media companies in both a professional and workshop capacity. They will attend the theatre regularly and take part in local community projects and live gigs. Students will develop their self confidence and improve interview and presentation skills.

Assessment Methods
Assessment will be both practical and written, with the practical taking the higher percentage. Students will be assessed individually, but are required to work as a team.

Achievements/Qualifications
Successful students will obtain a BTEC First Diploma qualification in Performing Arts with Media, as well as essential/key skills qualifications, where appropriate.

Progression Routes
Last year 100% of students who completed the course successfully, progressed onto one of tthe National Diploma courses, while others have gone straight into employment. Successful candidates, on completion of the course, can gain a place on the National Diploma in Performing Arts or Media Studies courses.
