Why should I study AS Level Physics?

What will be studied on the course?
Unit 1
This unit contains basic electricity work, circuit theory, resistivity and conduction mechanisms. It also includes more modern physics including the study of the classification of particles and a brief look at wave - particle duality.
Unit 2
This unit contains mechanics topics including scales and vector quantities forces, motion, friction, projectiles and investigation of the built properties of solids. It also includes waived topics such as reflection, refraction, diffraction and interference.
Unit 3
This is a practical based unit.
When does the course start and how long does it last?
This course starts in September and lasts for one academic year ending in June.
What qualifications are needed to do the course?
- A minimum of 5 GCSE's at grade C or above including Maths, English and Dual Award Science
- Grades A or B in GCSE higher level Dual Award Science and Maths
- Good practical skills

How will the learner be assessed?
Units 1 and 2 assessed by 2 x 1¼ hour written exams.
Unit 3 is assessed by a practical activity followed by a written exam.
