Life & Work OptionsCourse Outline
This 1-year full-time course (could be extended), run over four days, is specifically designed for those over 16 years of age, with varying degrees of learning difficulty/disability who require some means of support to allow them to gain access to independent living skills. The course is designed to provide a period of initial assessment of the individual?s needs & abilities. It will give you a chance to get to know the college as well as helping to find out what you like doing and what you are good at. The courses we offer will help you to gain some qualifications. All courses are accredited. You will also receive help with Literacy Skills, Numeracy Skills and ICT.

Entry requirements
There are no formal qualifications for this course but you will be invited to attend an informal interview.

What will I study?
You will study a range of subjects accredited by Edexcel and OCN including Life Skills, Preparing for Work, Health & Safety at Work, Practical Work Experience. Additional qualification options include: Personal Safety, Housing, Positive Alternatives to paid work, Working Together, Interview Skills, Dealing with Problems and many more.

How will I be assessed?
You will participate in a period of initial assessment, which leads to an agreed individual learning plan. Your work will be assessed by a range of methods, which may include portfolios, observation and tests.

Career Opportunities & Progression
After completing this course you could move into paid employment, other vocational areas, voluntary work or referral to Employment Agencies.
