Is the course for me?
This course is ideal course for people who are interested in make-up and would like to work as a make-up artist in the demanding Theatre, TV or Fashion world. This course provides a working knowledge of all the latest techniques within the industry which includes Production for Theatre Performance, Make-up for Performers, Basic and Period Makeup for Design and Application, Special Effects, Hair styling and dressing for performers. This course also includes NVQ level 3 nails.
What will I learn?
Practical assessments are carried out during college hours and at external events. Commitment to the course is a necessity. Only your hard work, commitment and dedication will guarantee success. You will be required to purchase your uniform costing approximately £55, and kits cost approximately £400. A kit list can be obtained subject to acceptance onto the course. To complete this course you will need to be a hardworking, motivated individual who works on his/her own initiative.
How will I be assessed?
The course consists of written assignments and tests. Continual practical assessments are carried out during and outside of college hours at both internal and external events. You will be assessed on your organisational, planning, designing and execution of make up designs for the performing arts departments shows and also external events including fashion shows and competitions. You will also be required to produce a portfolio of evidence which you will develop throughout the year.
What can I do after the course?
This course will qualify you to work as a make-up artist in the demanding TV/Fashion world, photographer's studio or backstage theatre. The next step after this course would be the HND in Specialist Make-up for T.V and Film.The Beauty & Holistic Department offers a full Virtual Learning Environment for all students to access from home should they wish to do so. This will be an invaluable tool for all learners across the section to guide through course schemes, assessment tracking and discussion.
Entry Requirement
