Course Summary:

Are you interested in the media for example film, television and radio?
If so then this course is an ideal way for you to develop your knowledge and practical skills. This BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing assignments that are based on real work situations and activities. The course will help you to learn about jobs in the media area and will give you a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related course.

A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A*- C and is taken as a full-time course.

Course Details:
You will learn how film, television and other media products, for example magazines, are made by looking at them and talking about them in detail. You will be encouraged to explore your own particular interests and communicate your ideas. You will also develop your skills when you use the cameras and lighting when working on the exciting video practical assignments.

Career Progression:
You may progress to a specialist BTEC National Diploma programme in Media Production, Moving Image, Music Technology or Interactive Media at Nescot if you gain merit grades on this course. Alternatively you may seek employment as a runner in media production companies, or in retail.

Students will be expected to purchase some digital media, such as USB sticks costing approx. 25.

A range of visits will be arranged and will cost in total for the year approx. 40.
