Media First Diploma
This is a practical course aimed at recent school leavers wishing to pursue a route into Media and Photography fields, with the aim of progression to a level 3 course. Media skills including video production, photography and graphic design will be acquired, as well as some basic theory.

  • Research for Media Production
  • Introduction to Media Audiences and Products
  • Video Production
  • Advertising Production
  • Web Authoring



Key Skills:
Literacy and numeracy skills are integrated into the study programme.

Awarding body:
Edexcel.

Entry Requirements:
Students should have an appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy and related interests as well as:

  • At least 4 GCSEs at average grade D, or
  • BTEC Introductory
  • /Foundation level at Merit or Distinction.

    Entry Process:
    All applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance for the course and should bring a portfolio of work where possible. An interview will be arranged at the earliest opportunity after receiving your application.

    Assessment:
    Continuous assessment throughout the course through assignments and course portfolios.

    Progression Routes:
    Students could progress to the BTEC National Diploma in:
  • Media
  • General Art
  • & Design
  • Photography



Career Options:
Students could eventually work in the TV/Media industry with further qualifications/training.
