How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous. You will be required to complete 60 assessed pieces of coursework across six terms. These include production work, theoretical work and presentations. In addition to this you are required to take two additional AS Levels (photography/film studies) alongside the National Diploma where this is achievable and appropriate.
What can I do afterwards?
The course has a high placement rate to specialist degree courses in Universities and Colleges of Higher Education. Subject to appropriate grades you may be eligible to apply to Sussex Downs Colleges Brighton University franchised FDA in Digital Media Design. Those not going to HE are successfully placed into media production and marketing careers.
Are there any additional costs involved?
There will be a mandatory student course contribution fee of £65 per year which will support non-capital equipment and software operational costs and upgrades. This payment will also subsidise Educational trips and visits and extra-curricular activities such as Film Society, Broadcasting and Publishing projects such as Eastbourne Youth Radio and TAG magazine. The payment will be collected as a single sum of £100 at the beginning of the two year course. Materials costs - for video, audio and photographic materials which will be used on the course and then taken away by students, will amount to around £150.00 per year. Some of these materials will need to be purchased immediately upon commencing the course.
