Students will require 4 GCSEs at Grades C or above, preferably with English Langauge.

Course Content
This is a two-year course designed to give students the skills and knowledge to progress into a media-related career.
Students will work on projects such as advertising campaigns, short films, radio broadcasts and live studio broadcasts. This course benefits from our new radio studio and digital darkroom, giving students the experience of using professional equipment, as well as our television studio and digital editing suites.
Study units include:
- Interview Techniques for Media Production;
- Understanding the Media Industries;
- Stop Motion Animation Production;
- Film and Video Editing Techniques.
Students can develop a range of practical and analytical skills relevant to a range of media industries. This course is based around giving students the opportunity to experience a wide range of projects, some of which will be commissioned by external bodies. There is a variety of work produced including outside broadcast work, short film production and radio products.
This course is equivalent to 120-360 UCAS points.
Teaching/Assessment
This course is assessed through a series of ongoing practical assignments which are a variety of independent, pair and group work. Students produce a portfolio of a variety of digital media products as well as learning about and gaining skills in planning, script writing, research and storyboarding.
The course contains 18 units in total. At the end of the second year, students undertake a final product which is an independent film production for the course's Film Festival.
Progression
Students can progress to Higher Education to study a wide range of subjects including Media Production, Advertising or the HND in Multimedia.
Additional Information
The course requires a range of materials such as VHS tapes, digitial tapes, minidisks, CD's and DVD's.
