Music Technology BTEC (Edexcel) National Diploma

Course content:
This 2 year course is aimed at students who wish to advance their skills and technical knowledge in music technology and production with a view to gaining a qualification that will enable them to progress onto a higher level qualification, or seek employment in the music technology industry.
This course prepares you for entry into university to continue studying to degree level, or to employment in the music technology industry. Using our industry standard equipment, you will develop your skills in sequencing, sampling, recording, mixing and mastering, resulting in music production of high standard. Alongside these practical technical elements, you will study the workings of the music industry, music keyboard skills and compositional skills.

Course Structure:
The course consists of 18 units that involve a mixture of practical work and lectures. You will be working in small and large groups and individually. Some assignments will be integrated where grading criteria from more than one unit are used.

Course resources:
3 recording studips (1 digital, 2 analogue), 4 suites of apple mac computers with Logic, Pro-Tools & Mach 5 sampling software, FX units, compressors etc., assorted microphones, drum kits, guitars, bases, keyboards, amps etc.

Assessment:
There will be internal and external assessment of written and practical assignments, CDs, media, viva voce.

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
