Course Description
Welling United Football Academy

This programme is designed for Male 16-18 year old players who have serious aspirations about playing football at a higher level while furthering their academic studies. Learners will complete a College based certificate at the Tower Road Campus combined with 12-15 hours practical coaching sessions at the Welling Football Academy (including matches played on Wednesday afternoons). In addition to Key Skills, the College taught units include: starting work in Sport, the healthy body, personal effectiveness and social responsibility. The Academy training will focus on development of football skills, principles of team tactics, strategies and set pieces, sports nutrition, injury identification and rehabilitation, weight/circuit/ anaerobic training, fitness testing.

Entry Requirements
Entry to this course is based on passing the Welling Football club trials, a combination of previous experience and qualifications as well as an assessment interview with College staff. Successful candidates must show a positive attitude to their academic as well as football skills throughout the season.

A variety of practical and written assignments
