If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
Course Aims
This course provides the knowledge and skills for those wishing to work in the vocational areas of Care, Social Care and Health. It is equivalent to 3 A levels and is delivered by highly qualified, experienced staff, who provide a friendly, supportive environment in which to learn.
Special Features
Students will have the opportunity over the two years of the course to spend time in a range of different care settings working with older people, young children and individuals with special needs. In total students will spend 8 weeks in placement. As well as work placement educational visits and guest speakers will be used on the course to relate theory to practice. This course continues to attract highly motivated students, a significant majority of whom progress to higher education.
Assessment Methods
There is ongoing continuous assessment using assignments, including time constrained assignments, laboratory based assignments, projects, oral presentations, work placement reports, log books and reflective diaries.

Level 3 National Diploma in Health and Social Care.
Progression Routes
Students may progress onto the level 5 HND/C in Health and Social Care or onto a wide range of level 5 degree programmes such as Teaching, Occupational Thearpy, Podiatry, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Social Policy, Housing, Sociology, Criminology to name but a few. Some students may wish to enter employment; there are opportunities to enter the civil service, nursing auxiliary and many others.
