The course is designed to allow you to adapt skills in creative, technical, editorial & managerial roles and equip you for higher education and employment.
What will I learn?
Over the 2 years of the course you will develop a range of skills and personal qualities which are essential for employment in the media industries. The skills that you develop will be through a variety of classroom based learning, team work, independent study, working to set professional briefs, field trips etc, which are all carefully designed to allow learners to develop personally and professionally in preparation for both higher education and employment.
How will I be assessed?
The course is made up of 18 units, these vary from year to year, focusing on current trends & learner requirements. These units are assessed in a variety of ways, ranging from; essays, reports, presentations, podcasts, blogs, case studies & practical based projects. Fleixibility is offered & individual learning needs are taken into consideration. Over the two years learners are essentially compiling a portfolio of work that can be used for both higher education or employment.
What can I do after the course?
BTEC Nationals are valued by employers and higher education. If you want to go into employment you could work in a variety of roles within television production, film production, post-production and facility houses, corporate & commercials, radio, interactive media, animation, public relations, media project work, teaching and many more.
