NC Animal Care
Course Content:
This course consists of both practical and theoretical units awarded by SQA. These include:
Small Animal Husbandry
Accommodation and Handling
Small Animal Husbandry: Health Care
Small Animal Husbandry: Reptiles and Amphibians
Small Animal Husbandry: Aquatics
Basic Reception Skills
Record Keeping and Handling Stock
The course also includes Core Skills (Communication, Numeracy and Information Technology), a Work Placement and a Residential element at Barony College, Dumfries
SCQF Level: 5
Entry Requirements:
3 Standard Grades (at General level or above) including English and a Science or equivalent qualification. Mature students will be considered at interview.
Students must be over 16 years of age.
A genuine interest in animal care
Sudy Mode:
Full-Time.
Progression To:
Pre-Veterinary nursing course, HNC/D Animal Care.
Career Paths:
Employment in the Retail Animal Sector.
