The NHS Traineeship programme for Health Science requires you to attend full time on the National Diploma Medical Science. In addition to your enrolment on Medical Science you will have the opportunity to secure a work placement for 1 day per week at a local NHS hospital. To gain an insight into professions in Health Sciences Learners will study areas such as Microbiology, Biochemistry.

About this course
You will be expected to have gained 4 or more A-C grades at GCSE level or equivalent. These should include Double Award Science, Mathematics and English. GNVQ Intermediate or BTEC First Diploma qualifications at Merit/Distinction level are acceptable in equivalent subjects. A clean CRB police check and an appropriate reference from school/college will be required.

Course Details
The NHS Traineeship programme for Health Science requires you to attend full time on the National Diploma Medical Science. In addition to your enrolment on Medical Science you will have the opportunity to secure a work placement for 1 day per week at a local NHS hospital. To gain an insight into professions in Health Sciences Learners will study areas such as Microbiology, Biochemistry, Histology, Medical Physics, Audiology, Haematology etc. Full inductions into hospital working will be managed by the Trust with mandatory training in health and safety.

GNVQ Intermediate or BTEC First Diploma qualifications at Merit/Distinction level are acceptable in equivalent subjects. This is a programme that has been developed in partnership with the NHS and will provide golden opportunities for progression into employment and a wide variety of career routes. Progression:
The National Diploma carries the equivalent UCAS points of 3 A levels in Applied Science (a maximum of 360 UCAS points), which on completion allows you to consider a related career or progress to university.
