Why should I study NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing?
If you are interested in the hairdressing industry or seeking a new career this is an ideal qualification for you. This is the first step in qualifying in this vocational area and will:

What will be studied on the course?
The course involves both theory and practical based tasks which include:

• Health and Safety
• Reception Duties
• Working in a Team
• Shampooing
• Preparing and maintaining work areas
• Assisting with colouring hair
• Assisting with perming hair

When does the course start and how long does it last?
The course will start in September and lasts for one year.

What qualifications are needed to do the course?
You will need to have a genuine interest in hairdressing and:

• GCSE's Grade E and F.

How will the learner be assessed?
You will be continually assessed throughout your course in both practical and theory based tasks. You are required to carry out a number of practical assessments. These will be logged in your portfolio, which you will continue to update as you pass assessments. You will also be required to complete assignments and written questions, which will contribute to your portfolio.

Key Skills is an integral part of the course, for which you will produce a portfolio and complete an external test.

How much will the course cost?
You will be required to purchase the following:

• Salon Kit, including; text book, training heads scissors etc
• Salon Wear, including appropriate footwear
• Name Badge
• Cost £170.00 approximately

What progression routes are available?
On completing your NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing you could then progress to:

• NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing
