Is it right for me?
This course has been developed for students interested in working with horses. It is an introductory level course that is designed to allow students to develop a range of horse care skills. The work will mainly be practical, with some theory sessions to provide the underpinning knowledge for the practical sessions. As well as supporting candidates wishing to work in this chosen area, it also allows progression on to other qualifications, such as a Work Based Learning Apprenticeship training programme or other Level 2 horse courses.

What qualifications will I need?
No formal qualifications required. Applicants must have a genuine interest and enthusiasm in working with horses and also have lots of stamina. Some experience of horses is required. The Equine Centre has a weight limit of 85kg (13 stone) for all riders.

What will I be learning about?

• Stable management,
• Feed and water horses
• Horse handling
• Grooming
• Paddock maintenance
• Tack and equipment
• BHS progressive riding tests
• Functional skills in Literacy, Numeracy and IT

What is involved?
This is a full time course which is delivered 5 days a week at the College for 16 weeks

Basic stationery.
