NVQ Level 3 for IT UsersCourse Outline
This 1-year programme has been designed in consultation with business and leading Sector Skills experts to give you an understanding of the use of Information Technology within today?s Microsoft Office environment. Complemented with the City & Guilds 7266 Advanced Diploma in IT Users, this is an application-based course, which starts from the basics and develops through to more complex aspects of application-based software. It is for anyone who is interested in gaining practical software application skills and experience. You will also work within our Virtual Company which provides a real environment in which to demonstrate practical competence and ability in using different commercial software applications.

Entry requirements
You must have basic communication and numeracy skills. Prior knowledge of IT at Level 2 is required for the NVQ at Level 3. You will be invited to attend an interview.

What will I study?
The units you will study are: NVQ in Information Technology level 3; IT Principles; Word Processing; Database; Spreadsheets; Presentation Graphics; Integrated Applications. You will also study the Key Skills of Communication and Application of Number.

How will I be assessed?
The ITQ units are internally assessed in a real working environment through our Virtual Company and are externally verified. You will have to demonstrate a practical competence of ability of different software applications. Each City & Guilds module is assessed by means of an assignment. You will demonstrate your theoretical knowledge and understanding with the use of on-line multiple-choice tests for each level. You will have to complete the on-line tests in the formal time restraints. Key Skills assessment is via portfolio evidence.

Career Opportunities & Progression
The course is recognised as a suitable qualification in a variety of IT disciplines and can also provide access at Level 3 to Higher Education programmes such as HNC/D Computing or Business Information Technology.
