Patisserie and Confectionery: Silver Level (SVQ Level 2)
This inspiring course is ideal if you have an interest in learning how to produce bakery products, cakes and pastries. Your time will be spent mainly in a practical environment within the bakery. There will also be classroom-based tuition to help with your understanding of the subject and some general kitchen based practical work to further develop your skills.
Alongside the kitchen based tuition - including pastry, cakes, breads and desserts - the course will also enhance your numeracy, IT and communication skills and includes the REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene qualification. There are opportunities to develop your skills in competition work during the course of the academic year.
Course work is continually assessed in both theory and practical units. There is a multiple choice exam leading to the REHIS qualification.
Further Study/Employment
On completing the programme you may progress to one of the Gold Level awards or into a diverse range of employment opportunities.
