The course has a stimulating and involving programme, which complements a wide number of other subjects on the curriculum. Skills in presentation and performance are enhanced and developed through a number of practical projects and confidence is built through ensemble and individual activities. These can include street theatre inspired by Commedia Dell Arte, acting workshops in different performance styles, cabaret, Shakespeare and a final performance project in the studio theatre. You will research the cultural and historical background of the performing arts, as well as exploring vocational opportunities. There are also opportunities to explore the various technical and backstage aspects of performing arts.

What will I study?
The course has a stimulating and involving programme, which complements a wide number of other subjects on the curriculum. Skills in presentation and performance are enhanced and developed through a number of practical projects and confidence is built through ensemble and individual activities. Two years full-time

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is primarily through observation and presentation of practical performance projects supported by written coursework, group critique and individual tutorial. Students are encouraged to assess themselves enthusiastically and honestly, and to critique their practical projects positively.

What can I do afterwards?
This course develops a number of presentational and organisational skills, whilst also providing training if you want to study for a degree in the performing arts, arts administration or technical theatre. It also provides a great basis for further practical training.

Are there any additional costs involved?
Students will be expected to provide £30 at the start of the course towards necessary costs. There will also be extra potential costs for events and excursions that compliment the curriculum.
