Applicants should have either: A BTEC National Diploma (graded at a merit or distinction profile) or equivalent in a relevant subject . Two A-levels that include a relevant subject . Mature applicants (those over 21 years of age at the start of the course) without the formal requirements are welcomed and will be considered individually, with the key emphasis being placed on relevant experience and your potential to succeed on the course . Acceptance on to the course will be subject to a successful interview and audition. Due to some parts of the course involving work with young people, all students will be required to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

Performing Arts (Dance) Foundation Degree
This exciting and dynamic programme, offered in partnership with the University of Greenwich, replaces the BTEC HND in Theatre. The aim of the course is to provide excellent subject-specific practical training and a thorough academic knowledge to enter the industry. The qualification carries 240 credit points, meaning that some HE institutions will accept successful students directly on to the third year of a full BA (Hons) degree in a relevant area. A core curriculum provides real work experience in a variety of areas within performing arts including regular community based links, business and administrative experience, practical work with professional directors and choreographers and the chance in the second year to form a touring production company. Contextual and business studies form a vital core in which students will research and examine the legal, fiscal, ethical, historical, analytical and professional issues involved and drawn from the performing arts.
Course Content:
All students will follow a core performing arts course, and then choose from one of two specialist pathways: Acting or Dance. Acting Students following this pathway will study the following subjects:

- Contemporary dance and repertory
- Choreography conventional and innovations
- Classical ballet
- Popular dance
- Singing and acting methods

Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have either:
- A BTEC National Diploma (graded at a merit or distinction profile) or equivalent in a relevant subject .

- Acting : you will be asked to perform two contrasting monologues.
- Dance : you will be asked to perform a solo of approximately two minutes choreographed by the dancer.
Accreditation of Prior Learning / Experience:
Applications are welcomed from mature students without formal qualifications who are able to demonstrate that they have relevant experience and the potential to succeed on the course.
Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the course tutors where you will be asked to perform a short audition piece, the format of which will be dependent on your preferred pathway (Acting or Dance):
Assessment:
Assessment is continuous and will be a mixture of practical and written assignments with tests in some areas.
Progession Routes: This is an ideal course for students with performing experience aiming to go to dance or drama school to finish their training. Some HE institutions will accept successful students for the third year of a full degree in a relevant area.
Career Options:
Achievement of the qualification may open up employment opportunities within the creative industries such as in small scale touring, theatre and education & arts administration.
