What will I be learning?
Philosophy is about using rational argument and logical thinking to shine some light on life's big questions. The course includes subjects like; The idea of God, Why should I be moral?, Realism and idealism and Free will and determination?.
You will learn to examine information in a critical way, evaluate and form judgements.
How will I learn?
There are two 90 minute examinations.
Teaching strategies for this course include: class discussions and formal debates; group and individual presentations; problem solving; textural analysis and writing exercises.
You will prepare for examinations by a series of assessed essays of up to 1500 words.
What else might I want to know?
Philosophy fine tunes your reasoning, so that your enhanced intellect can be applied to various careers, for example: Law, Politics, Journalism and Education.
What can I do afterwards?
You could progress to A2 Philosophy or seek employment.
