Physical Education - AS and A Level
The purpose of this course is to prepare you for a career as a trainer, teacher, physiotherapist or administrator in the field of Physical Education.

AS = 1 year. A Level = 2 years.

What will I need to follow the course?
You will need 6 GCSEs at grades A*-C in order to study AS subjects. The requirements for adults will be different.

What will I study?
You will study sport-related subjects such as psychology, physiology and science as well as developing your research skills, practical skills and self-confidence. These are the main topics you will study:

Will I have to sit any examinations?
There will be an examination at the end of the year. Your coursework will also be assessed.

What will I have at the end of the course?
On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded an AS certificate in Physical Education. You can study the subject for a further year and gain an A level certificate. You will also be able to gain additional qualifications such as a First Aid Certificate and a Coaching Certificate in Football, Hockey and Badminton.

What next?
You will be able to follow a degree course in subjects such as Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy or Sports Psychology at a higher education college. Many students have chosen to study this course in conjunction with vocational courses such as Leisure and Tourism. Some have found jobs in leisure centres after completing the course.
