About this course
This course is for school leavers aged 16-18 years. 4 GCSEs, graded A-C in relevant subjects (e.g. Citizenship, P.E, Science, English and Maths). A Merit grade or above in the BTEC First Diploma (or a similar full level 2 qualification) in a related area. Relevant experience and / or training in the industry (e.g. cadets, voluntary work) will be considered in support of your application.

Course content:
This course is ideal if you are interested in pursuing a career in the public services sector, e.g. Police, Ambulance, Fire Service, or Armed Forces and prefer a more practical route of study.
This two year course is designed for you if you wish to work in the public and uniformed careers such as the ambulance, fire, army and police services. The course provides you with opportunities to develop basic skills, knowledge and understanding through experiencing the range and types of activity that you will be expected to carry out serving the public. There is a strong emphasis on your own health, lifestyle and fitness and you will develop your physical sport and recreation skills. Course elements include Understanding Behaviour in Public Sector Employment, Team Development in Public Services, Team Leadership in the Uniformed Public Services, Physical Preparation and Fitness for the Uniformed Services, Government Policies and the Public services, Citizenship, Contemporary Society and the Public Services, Understanding Discipline within the Uniformed Public Service's as part of the course you will also be participating in outdoor activities such as map reading, high ropes and competitions organised by the services. Your course will also include key/functional skills in communication and application of number at the appropriate level.

The course is a combination of practical activity and theory sessions timetabled across 3 days.

All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access. Specialist resources include a full sized sports hall, weight training facilities and aerobic studio.

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
