Public Services First Diploma (Uniformed) - PSFD11AL

Is the course for me?
This exciting and successful course aims to equip learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in moving towards a career in the uniformed services. Some of our students have progressed into the Police force, Emergency Fire Services, Prison Services or Armed Services. The course allows learners to investigate the uniformed services - what they are, what do they do, career progression and an opportunity to work alongside peers who also wish to progress into the armed services. The course also includes a volunteering qualification at level 2. It is a very challenging but exciting course to join.

What will I learn?
You will study several different units. Some of the choices are: Uniformed public service employment; Public Service Fitness; Value of sport and recreation; Land navigation by map and compass; Crime and its effects. The course involves a balance of practical work and theory, with good links to external agencies e.g. the Armed Forces, Fire Service and police force.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a series of assignments for each unit. This will also include practical aspects of assessment. Some assessment may also take place via external visits/residentials and during volunteering exercises.

What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto level three provision if you have gained a merit. This could include the National Diploma in Public Services, progress onto an NVQ in Public Services or the level 3 certificate in Uniformed Public Services.
