This 1-year full-time or 2-year part-time course offers a route into Higher Education in a Health Profession. The objective of the course is to provide a supportive & friendly environment to enable you to develop your potential and to prepare you for university study. Many past students have successfully moved on to gain Degrees & other Higher Awards such as Nursing Degrees.

About this course
You must be committed to developing your ability. No formal academic qualifications are needed, however, applicants should be aware that the course requires a high level of dedication, as students will be working at level three standard. All applicants will undertake an entrance test to ascertain skill levels in literacy and numeracy; in addition you will be invited to attend an interview. Note For Nursing Health related professions you will require a CRB check and all convictions/cautions have to be declared. You may also need to speak to Occupational Health Departments regarding some medical conditions.

What will I study?
You will study Sociology, Psychology, Human Physiology & Health, Health Studies and the Key Skills of IT, Numeracy and Communication. Study is at level 2 initially then onto level 3.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by continual assessment, essays, projects and oral presentations with some end-of-unit tests. You will also be expected to maintain your course files and all portfolios to the required standards.
Career Opportunities & Progression
After successfully completing this programme, you will be able to progress to a Health related Degree or Higher Diploma course at a University or Higher Education Institution of your choice.
