Students will be encouraged and expected to explore and develop understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of Spain.

About this course
Normally students 16 - 19 years of age will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C ideally with an A or B Grade in Spanish and/or French. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the Faculty.

Course Content

A wide range of contemporary cultural and social topics are studied.
Candidates'choice of oral topic possible at A Level.
Almost exclusive use of Spanish in class and in exams.
Candidates have independent control of listening material and exam and use of language laboratory and self study packs.
Excellent resources available in Learning Resource Centre and library, including language magazines, tapes, videos and language computer programmes.
The course is delivered by a native speaker.
Grammar is dealt with in a systematic and supportive way.
Excellent career prospects for language graduates.
Career Prospects and Progression
A Levels provide an excellent basis for progression to Higher level qualifications such as degrees or Higher National Diplomas. Now that the single European Market is operating there are more opportunities for people who have studied languages. The knowledge of Spanish opens up a wide range of job opportunities including Business and Finance, Travel and Tourism, Teaching and Interpreting, the MOD and Customs amongst others.
