Course content:
This course is aimed at those with a real interest in Sport & Recreation and in developing long-term career opportunities in the industry and will provide an introduction to Sport, Leisure and Recreation as an employment area and a good basis to progress to further training, education or employment.
The course is made up of the following units: the body of sport, practical sport, work based project in sport, planning and leading sports activates, sport & leisure facility operations. There is a ten day work placement as part of the course and you will be required to obtain a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check at a cost of £36 (subject to change).

Course Structure:
The course is a combination of practical activity and theory sessions timetabled across 3 days in the week. All students will complete a sports related Work Experience Placement as part of the course.

Full size sports hall, weight training facilities, all staff have current vocational competence.

Practical assessment and portfolio assessment

Next step:
Continue onto a higher level course such as BTEC National Award in Sports Development & Fitness.

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Approximately £30 for text books/materials. Appropriate sports clothing is essential for all practical work.
