Course Content
This course broadens and expands the specialist work related focus from the
BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma. There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a particular area of work.
It is broadly equivalent to two GCE A Levels.

Teaching/Assessment
Assessment is through ongoing projects and practical assignments. In the final year students will work on a major project involving research activities.
All students take part in work experience programmes, in Year 2 a compulsory outdoor pursuits residential will develop students leadership and communication skills.

Progression
This qualification is valued by employers within the Sport and Leisure industry and higher education providers.
Common university courses followed include Sport and PE, Leisure Management Studies, Sports Coaching, Sporting Development and Teaching PE. Other students may follow in professional training in Gym/Personal trainer.
Additional Information
Students on this course will be charged for a Criminal Records Bureau [CRB] check. The current cost is £36. Students can apply to the Financial Contingency Fund [FCF] to cover the cost of a CRB check.
Students are required to purchase a college t-shirt and polo shirt costing £15.
Students will get the opportunity to purchase a college tracksuit and sports related kit linked to the sport of their choice.
Minimal costs may be required for local educational visits.
